Walking though those glorious gates is like walking through the pearly gates of heaven. I'm home when I'm at Pioneer Stadium in Batesville, AR. Just to hear the roaring of the crowd is music to my ears. The high and low pitches of the band and the announcer talking about the Frito chili pies at the concession stand is what I just can't live without. As I walk up the stands to find me a seat and pass all the different fans along the way, I smell the magnificent variety of food such as nachos, hot dogs, and hot chocolate. When I find a place to sit, (being the big fans we are) my friends and I hold signs up that say "GO PIONEERS!!" and yell at the top of our lungs. A few minutes after watching tackles, fumbles, punts and first downs, the crowd goes wild after a Pioneer makes a touchdown. Fireworks shoot off into the sky while the announcer is going crazy. At the end of the game, it is another Pioneer victory and they have just been crowned 5A Conference Undefeated Champs. All of the football players make their way to the bottom of the stands. They shout with deep, one-accord voices the V-I-C-T-O-R-Y chant for they are proud to be Pioneers. That's where I come from. This is forever my home. I am a Batesville Pioneer.
